This is a gem of a find. It's about 15 mins walk from Daan MRT station - but you could screen shot the address in Chinese and get a taxi if you arrive late at night (as we did). The sign for the hotel is above eye level on the building so you need to look up when you are looking for it! The staff are so friendly and helpful. You can change large notes (NT$1000) at front reception (as MRT only takes NT$100 notes). They can also give you maps in English. The room was lovely. Lots of extras to make you comfortable - free mini fridge with beer, coke and water as well as snacks (topped up daily). There was even a pile of fruit which got replaced when needed. There are the usual toiletries but also free folding hairbrush and even a plaster! The bed was big and reasonably comfortable (Asian beds are always firmer) with good pillows. The shower was great - it even had a bath as well as a Japanese style toilet which was amazing! Huge TV for both the bedroom and sittingroom and you can sign into your Netflix account and watch TV as well as a selection of English speaking channels. The wardrobe is large and has a mini safe, iron/ironing board, robes and slippers. The breakfast is good - differs a bit each day so it stays interesting. Coffee is really good. You can bring one back up to your room whilst you get ready to go out for the day. Daan station is on the red line MRT which connects to Taipei main station (so you can catch the train from the airport). The metro system is brilliant and really cheap to use (NT$20-50 approx 50p-£1 a journey). A really great find and we had a great stay.

Everyone at this hotel was so nice it was an amazing stay. Breakfast was great and had many options. Beds were very comfy and bathrooms had many amenities. Great location close to three train lines (two stations) and good restaurants nearby. Front desk staff researched attractions for us and provided great recommendations. 10/10 this place was super good.

I went with this hotel with a friend's recommendation. Premise: I was 'impressed' upon arriving at the main lobby - a modern 'muji' feel, looks like it's targeting for young travelers. It's a tad different the moment u stepped into its lift & room - an old, slow lift & immediately I felt like I was transported back to the 90s. Room: is outdated but with decent space. Our safe box doesn't work (I didn't bother to ask for a change), limited hangers in cupboard & its USB ports didn't work. Bathroom: outdated with 90s marble style, decently cleaned Breakfast: small int'l spread with limited local asian offerings Location: about 10 mins walk to main shopping area where Sogo is. There are some boutique, independent shops along the walk. Overall: I'd go with another option closer to the shopping area

Good location with interesting shops around. About 6mins walk from the main Zhong Xiao East Road and the metro station. Lots of food choices around. Hotel breakfast is decent. Room is clean. Staff are very friendly.

What sets this hotel apart: If you are looking to stay in a quiet neighborhood (instead of a hotel along a busy/noisy street) with a good value/price, great service, and convenient location in Taipei, this hotel is a strong contender. This combination is what sets it apart from other hotels. Hotels nearby are either priced higher or along the main streets. Positives: - The team's service and attitude are consistently professional and courteous throughout my entire stay. Everyone was professional. No one came across rude, impatient, or defensive. They thanked me for choosing them and also took responsibility/ownership on things they did not do right the first time. - They took notes on things you said and requested with immediate response or within 24 hours if needed more time. - They practiced active listening, asked clarification questions to ensure what I needed/requested. - Excellent breakfast, full of variety. They kept standard items standard by providing them daily but also added some variety by changing 3-5 dishes. All foods are fresh and prepared on site. - Housekeeping service had great attitude and was efficient in cleaning throughout the entire stay. - They have an elevator. Most hotels in Taiwan have elevators. - They are happy to help moving your luggage upon request. - Excellent hot shower temperature and pressure - Amenities provided in the room is abundant with good quality - They are trustworthy in honoring pre-agreed upon check-in requirements. Before booking this hotel, I asked about the check-in requirements and what I felt comfortable providing and what not. They agreed and executed accordingly. I appreciate how their words and actions are consistent, which is very different from some hotels (Best Western always acted inconsistently, Marriott, Hilton, and IHG hotels are spotty, some are good, and some are bad) in the US and Canada where they said/agreed one things and acted differently when I arrived at the front desk for check-in. Hotel services in Taiwan are generally much better in terms of service attitude and honoring their words. - Effective expectation management and communication - When raising issues, they took it with positive attitude: they always first owned it by providing a sincere apology, tried to solve it immediately. If they couldn't solve it right away, they asked for more time and provided a timeframe on when it would be solved. Throughout my stay, 50% of issues were solved immediately, and 50% were solved within 12 to 24 hours. No issues remained unresolved. - Common areas are always very clean and organized. Negatives: - Not always have people at the front desk to help open the heavy doors. Better to change it to auto-sliding doors. - The elevator carpet is gross and dirty: time to change it. There was a hair hidden underneath the hand towel on first day - raised the issue and they fixed it the next morning. Should not have missed at first place. - There was a dirty blue cup with watermarks all over it - raised the issue and they fixed the next morning. Should not have missed at first place. Other comments: - This hotel is more than 20+ years old, and it does reflect on the amenities and infrastructure. It's not too old, but you could clearly see standard normal wear and tear on things. However, they do keep it very clean and organized. - Free WiFi available in the room. Not in the common area: lobby or dining room. - The lighting system is centralized and controlled by a panel, which can be hard or easy to operate depending on people's preference. I prefer the traditional way of one switch one light, whereas some may prefer multiple light with one switch. - This hotel was above and beyond: They did well and did not fall short on "must haves" and most important things I cared about such as 1) they provided a clean and spotless bed including comforter, pillowcases, flat sheet, fitted sheets, etc, without odor or smell; 2) excellent hot shower temperature and pressure, 3) all items in the room works the way it supposed to work (unlike a Holiday Inn in El Paso, Texas with broken toilet unable to flush). They first thrived to meet the bare minimum requirements and did well. Then, they added more things to enhance my stay experience further by accommodating my specific needs (beverage preferences, chair preference, furniture re-arrangement, room temperature, excellent breakfast, luggage service, etc.) The experience was a positive progression. - It has another location in Taipei called Les Suites Ching Cheng which is 6-7 years newer, also resides on a smaller and quieter street with convenient and excellent location right off a main MRT (subway) station. Overall rating: 4.75 out of 5. I don't usually give such high rating, but I feel very comfortable in recommending this hotel. Had they done well on areas under "negatives" category, they would have received a 5 out of 5 rating, a perfect score. I will consider staying there again.
